Why can’t I connect my all-in-one
There are a few of our solutions that work with a standard printer, but not a multi function printer. Let me try to explain why
Some products, (USB to Parallel adapter, Auto Share switch etc.) are designed specifically to work with printers. They work with single function printers, but will not work if you have a multi function printer like an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax; or a printer with a card reader
A multi function printer, is actually multiple devices in the same box. There is a virtual hub inside the printer, and then the hub connects to the printer, the scanner, and the fax machine. So when a device is designed specifically for a printer, it can’t interface with the hub, and then never gets to the printer.
Even a simple looking printer, if it has a card reader (for memory cards of digital cameras) or even some specific camera connections, can cause simple printer devices to malfunction. Fortunately there is usually a way around the problem. (like maybe adding a true parallel port, or getting a manual switch) If you have any questions, we’d be more than happy to help
